The Southwestern Apartments

If it wasn't for the friendly and helping people of the front desk, or the quick and reliable guys of the maintenance crew, it would be for the beautiful salt water pool and courtyard space. I have really enjoyed my time here so far. They are very pet friendly, but I don't see animal waste laying around. The gym has all the newest equipment, and doesn't seem to get crowded. Lastly, I have liked the fact that the resident events are really well attended, and fun. I have met a lot of new friends here, and just wanted to share what a great place I think the Southwestern is.

Here’s a list of the problems I encountered living here: -Pipes burst in multiple apartments, flooding my and my neighbors apartment and causing mold -The entirety of building 1 was without water for over 48 hours on Christmas eve and Christmas day due to again a burst pipe -Door was not sealed properly leading to air (during hot and cold seasons) to leak out of the apartment wasting energy on the AC -Toilet and bathtub both leaked, but even multiple maintenance visits never fixed the problem. All they would ever do is re-caulk the seams and say “that should fix it” only for the caulking to crack and cause leaking all over again. After 4 maintenance visits I gave up asking and just dealt with it -Maintenance guy was rude -Personal belonging that never leaves apartment and has specific place ended up somehow going missing -Dog poop everywhere -Front gate was broken more often times than it was working -Dishwasher, drier, and washing machine are serviceable but show their age and aren’t very effective The gym is nice, and the front desk people like Ricardo are very friendly, helpful, and professional. Overall the apartment is shoddily constructed, which in and of itself is understandable but not for luxury prices that are nearly $2000 per month. Better options in the area for sure.

The Southwestern is so much better than a few other apartment complexes I've lived in!! They take measures to prevent the amenities and complex from turning into a dump which is greatly appreciated! Speaking of amenities, they are fantastic!!! From the pool, gym, Amazon lockers, outdoor grill/hang out area and the courtyard, all suburb and well kept! Any maintenance requests I've had (which haven't been many) are addressed within a day or two and I don't have to follow up with them! The team always responds to emails very quickly! Ricardo and Kalista were wonderful at the very beginning and have been since living here! Rating this review 4 stars due to the fact the front gate has been non operational more often than it works! The gate was a huge factor on why I decided to rent because I like the safety it provides.

I recently moved to The Southwestern. I've lived in apartments almost all of my life - so I AM a great judge of properties. The Staff at The Southwestern is FABULOUS!! Seriously! Ricardo went above and beyond to help me get moved in and situated. The Southwestern building and property is CLEAN. My apartment was clean and readied on Move IN. I highly recommend The Southwestern for your next living experience!!

Ricardo was absolutely disgusting and discriminatory (it be ya own people!!) Ricardo stated that my check stubs were fake, mentioning that the paid to date calculations were wrong, and that he didn’t think I could have that type of job. They charge a 300 application processing fee, but they dont utilize the money to verify or check anything. Because the company I work for has been in business over 175 years (very rare) and their paystub and accounting calc are very accurate . Ricardo can’t count or read but, he shouldn’t have to be tasked with that if they just paid the screening company, or made one simple verification phone call. What is the 300 dollars for? Very insulting and rude. But he is African and I am also of African decent, although, I was born in the United States. He approved a friend of mine who actually did use fake documentation but she seems African with her name and look. You would think she is African like him. But she’s the one suggested that I apply specifically there, knowing how she was approved with fake documentation, we thought i would be even better with real information. But this was not the case, I was automatically judged and dismissed just for being me! “The Africans” sometimes judge us Black Americans like others here and they sometimes believe they are better for whatever their reasoning (cultural differences ..) He also made me send him direct emails with my passport and other government identification items, even though the online screening system approved it instantly . Why would I need to send it for his personal judgement , and this is also stereotypical what I’m about to say (like how he stereotyped me is why I’m about to make my comment back because TUH) But I would hope he’s not fraudulently using my documents because those African /nigerian online email scams are real! I tried to reach out via to mgmt using several different channels and attempts and was ignored. Only when I brought it to the internets do they respond LMAO! They didn’t even respond to BBB complaint.
